How do I set up my Plegium pepper spray with my phone?

Setting up your Plegium Smart Pepper Spray or your Plegium Smart Mini Pepper Spray with your phone is a quick and easy process. Here's how to do it:

1. Download the Plegium app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account and follow the setup instructions in the app. Make sure to grant the app permission to use Bluetooth and location services.

2. Connect your spray to the app by tapping "Add device" on the home screen, then entering the four-digit code found under the flip top safety lid. You can also add your device by going to Settings > Nearby Plegium Devices and finding your device in the list.

3. Add emergency contacts by clicking "Add contact" in the app and select cell phone numbers from your phone's contact list. With the free version you can add up to 2 emergency contacts, with Plus or Premium subscription up to 7.

Your spray is now connected to your phone and ready to use.

To test all functions except the spray, use a sharp object to slide down the test switch on the side of the product for 10 seconds, then slide it back up. This will activate all features and send out alarms to your emergency contacts (so remember to let them know you are testing it).

Keep in mind that the Plegium app must be open for the location text messages and phone calls to function, it's enough that the app is in the background and the phone can be locked, but if you actively close ("kill") the app it will not be able to receive the signal from your spray that it has been fired.

Is the Plegium app compatible with both Android and iOS devices?

Yes, the Plegium app is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. You can download the app for free on the App Store or Google Play.

How many test alarms can I conduct per month?
The number of test alarms you can conduct depends on your subscription type. Free version users can perform up to 10 free test alarms per month. Plus, Premium, and Pro subscribers enjoy increased limits, with 20 test alarms for Plus and Premium users, and 50 for Pro users.
How many emergency contacts can I manage in the app?
With the free Plegium app, you can include up to 2 emergency contacts of your choice. If you wish to expand your contacts list, upgrading to Plegium Premium or Plegium Plus provides the flexibility to add up to 7 contacts. Additionally, these premium subscriptions offer enhanced safety features like professional monitoring and live GPS tracking for added peace of mind.
Are my emergency contacts required to download the Plegium app?

No, your emergency contacts do not need to download the app to receive emergency alerts.

You simply need to add their cell phone numbers as emergency contacts within the app. When you trigger your device, your emergency contacts will receive phone calls and text messages from an American phone number.

We recommend that you ask your emergency contacts to add the Plegium phone numbers to their contact list for easy identification.

What will the emergency alerts look like when I trigger my Plegium device?

When you trigger your Plegium device, your emergency contacts will receive a phone call with a message stating your name and that you have fired your pepper spray.

They will also receive a text message with a Google maps link showing your location at the time the pepper spray was deployed. This allows your emergency contacts to quickly and easily locate you in case of an emergency.

Is the Plegium app required to be open in order for emergency alerts to function?

Yes and no – the Plegium app must be open for the location text messages and phone calls to function, but it can run in the background and the phone can be locked. However, if the app is actively closed or "killed," it will not be able to receive the signal from the spray that it has been fired.

The spray will automatically reconnect once the app is opened and it is within Bluetooth range of the phone. You can check the connection status in the app at any time.

How do I use my spray?
The Smart, Smart Mini, Combo, and Premium models are all equipped with a spring-loaded safety cover that prevents the trigger from being accidentally pressed when you carry the animal deterrent spray in your pocket. Here's how to use these models: Slide your thumb under the safety cover. Press the trigger firmly in the center – all functions are now activated simultaneously. Spray the attacker from one ear to the other over the eyes and then aim at their nose and mouth.
Can I test the animal deterrent sprays?

All our products contain enough for about 10-15 seconds of continuous spraying before they run out. This is more than enough to target multiple attackers. However, we advise against testing the spray by pressing the trigger, as it is important to have the maximum spray amount available in an emergency. To test all other functions (location messages, phone calls, siren, and LEDs), you can press the TEST lever on the side of the product with a pointed object for 10 seconds. Then simply push the lever back up.

Do the products have an expiration date?

All products have a 4-year lifespan. The Smart, Smart Mini, and Combo models, which also have batteries, have a battery life of minimum 2 years, with replaceable batteries.

Can I travel abroad with my pepper spray?

There are significant legal differences from country to country regarding the use of pepper spray. For this reason, we advise against taking pepper spray on your trips abroad. As our animal deterrent sprays are aerosols, they must not be taken into the cabin of an airplane under any circumstances.
